Do I Remember You

Do I remember you the way you were
Or how I wanted you to be
I treasure all the very private times
That forged the link from you to me
Mem'ries kept alive by dates and actions
Didn't seem to matter too much then,
They matter now because they're all you left
Until we get the chance to meet again
A message left on tape when there's no answer
Call you back when I can find the time
A visit now and then; it's such a long way
And you would always say "I'm feeling fine"

Through misty Cornish morning sun
Where tall cliffs meet green Atlantic wave.
I'll come and visit just as often as I can
And lay some flowers on my father's grave
